Lea & Jarryd Wallace were married at one of our preferred venues, Historic Smithonia Farm in Athens, on a crisp October day. I loved how personal, warm, and rich this wedding was. Lea & her mom took great care in making sure everything reflected their unique stories and personalities, as well as pointed to their faith.
Although this wedding had so many memorable moments and details, I’ll just mention a few favorites. Best moment? Lea’s dad sang a duet during her ceremony, which was incredibly beautiful and so special (you can see this in their video at the bottom of the post!). Best detail? First, I have to mention the awesome DIY favors by Lea’s mom. Y’all – these favors were a labor of love. She aged the little pots and grew rosemary for each guest. I loved that pomegranates (and artichokes!) were incorporated from the paper goods to the decor on the tables. Healthy eating is important to both Lea & Jarryd, and is a huge part of their lives. It was fun to weave it throughout the wedding – from the aesthetics to the delicious menu prepared by their caterer.
The florals by Bloomin’ Bouquets were jaw-dropping, and The Neons definitely gave an awesome party. This group danced all night. During the reception, Lea even surprised Jarryd with a whiskey bar. I love thoughtful surprises!
In addition to being super fun, this couple is driven and truly amazing. Lea works with Teach for America. It was always inspiring to hear about her students and work within the organization. Jarryd is a Paralympic runner. He ran in the Rio Olympics and just won the World Championship this year in London. So, yeah, they are pretty cool. 🙂 Their proposal story was one of my favorites, ever. You can read it here.
The joyful emotions that poured through this sweet couple and their families won’t ever be forgotten. Thank you L & J for letting us share in your planning journey and first day of marriage. We love you guys!
